Richard Brotbeck, founder, publisher, poet and cleaning crew, established Tangled Web Press in January of 2008. His goal was to bring poetry back to the mainstream. Upon further review, he has discovered that poetry was never in the mainstream, not since Shakespeare anyway.
His new goal is to bring poetry back to people who may have forgotten its beauty. With the help of editors Sheryl Brotbeck and Elaine Polin, along with noted scholars Dr. Christine Sukic and Dr. Glenn Swetman, the work is being done.
Richard's essays, editorials, cartoons, puzzles, poetry and song lyrics have appeared in many regional publications including the Kansas City Star and the Liberty Tribune (oldest banner line west of the Mississippi).
He also has served as Editor for the Kansas City Blues and Jazz Festival's programs and magazines.
He has
studied language, art, music and culture all of his adult life, in places
such as Guam,
the Philippine Islands, Thailand and Kenya.

Elaine
S. Polin

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Elaine S. Polin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Education and an M.A. in Romance Languages. After graduation, she and her husband moved to Long Island, New York, where she taught French, Spanish, Latin, Reading and ESL at the high school and advanced college levels.
After close to two decades of teaching, she entered the field of Public Relations for an international corporation. Many of her own articles and editorials, as well as several short stories, have been published in major and minor newspapers and magazines. Photography is her avocation. Several years ago, she won the blue ribbon in the Long Island CELEBRATION OF LIFE photo contest with her photo: AFTER THE STORM. She currently works as Editor for Tangled Web Press, here on Mars.
She says that this job is probably the most satisfying of her long career in the fields of language and literature.
