Poet's leaving for Mars.
(acrostic) by Sptfyr
Poets ponder perplexing problems of pen and paper while
Obviously overlooking other opportunities that
Easily explain exactly how existential explorers have come
To tread trippingly along Terza Rima, Terzanell, and Triolet verse.
Seemingly, these spaced-out word smiths are solidly sold on moving to Mars.
Obviously the outcome offers other advantages by way of
Freedom from the fastidious focus of feral Y!fools.
Motivating merging members of the Mars movement has other merit.
Alternately, artists are allowed to act according to their natures by
Respectively reviewing raucous writing and raising the roof without reprisal.
So, I say to all skillful scribes: straddle your stylograph and set sail for the
stars.

Do you like this Martian literature?
by TD Euwaite
The bio-dome’s quite lovely now
My Springtime air machine
Seasons changed…
at the flip of switch
On Mars,
I live out my dream
Phobos sets and Deimos rises as the half-sized sun warms very little.
It’s a good thing I brought all the Plutonium with me.
Since I have no one to bomb, I can let it decay in my reactor for 10,000 years.
I zip along on my planet
One tenth the size of Earth
Solitary dweller
In the solar system’s cellar
Cases of Spam
A wee Scottish dram
And loads of blank paper to write on

Somebody Stop That Man!
by Yapoo Phoenix (Stoogefied)
So you've left me
By the side of the ramp
I begged to go
Yet you insisted I stayed
I said I'd be quiet
and behave on the trip
But you have ignored
Even my offers of weed
What for you forsake me
on this muddy ball
Was a ride too much to ask for?
...Well? Was it Sir?

Tom's Cigar
by TD Euwaite
Here I am
Up on Mars
With my pickles
In a jar
Rows of library books
And Tom's cigar
I can sing
Write some things
Free from
Hurtful words that sting
Living on my
Planet all alone
Time will pass
Peace, at last
Up on Mars
No questions asked

Untitled
by Sptfyr
Alone you say
without this fray
of your poets gathering near.
You will not last
as the Martian winds blast
without your poets gathering near.
So back to Earth
with your artsie words
where your poets are gathering near.

Do I have the guts to leave for Mars?
by Elaine P
I have spent all my youth
On the shores of the sea,
I have laughed with the gulls,
Drenched the sand with my tears.
I have run in the rain,
Slept serene in the sun,
Rocked in the waves
Under bright summer skies.
I have touched the Moon's path
As it fell from the sky,
Photographed sunsets,
And watched the sun rise.
How can I leave you
For the cold orange sand?
Will the Martian winds lull me
To sleep with their song?
Still, I must travel,
The adventure awaits.
In the cold dark of space
I'll say farewell to Earth.

An observation of Mars
by Sptfyr
(Inspired by the new mars movement)
AN OBSERVATION OF MARS
Martian mania
is all the ragia?
shall I dance by the light of the moons.
That tiny red planet
in its orbital habit
has captured my fancy at noon.
There he just sits,
a fabulous poet of wits
switching seasons like a buffoon
And, in his own way,
he's led poets astray
to join the new movement so soon.
So, in a year and a day,
they've all found their way
to hear the new Martians who croon.
While hoping some day
they'll make oodles of pay
writing poems by the light of the moons

Who wants to explore Mars with me?
by Elaine P
Rover and I, alone together
Explore the orange Martian sands
No longer can we speak to Earth.
The green-blue planet has turned to black
The Arctic ice and cities gone
And Luna seems so lonely now.
I'm glad I brought my batteries
And happy someone's here with me
If only Rover had a voice!

Mars - The Roman God Awaits - Do you like?
by Marguerite
The Roman God Awaits
Part 1, The Descent.
Mount Olympus,
highest of all,
debuts,
and we applaud.
The Red Carpet,
of virgin dust,
flutters,
and we quiet.
Our New Homestead,
sphere number 4,
welcomes,
and we hurrah.
The Beginning.
Part 2
Want to come along?
it's time my love, we are here.
gather the new.
planets reset
eternal clocks.
beyond the valley is home.
nothing to fear.
mountains shelter
our beginning.
dreams and gardens will blossom.
hear the poets.
lovers flourish
a turquoise rose.

Mars Cars
by TD Euwaite
Stupefied Clyde
On his rocket-boat ride
Planetarium trip with the kiddies
Produces comical ditties
Next time on Mars
Don't joke about cars
And when you're on Venus
Remember, they've seen us
So please, don't demean us...Ta Dah!

Martian Prospectus
by TD Euwaite
And the profits came to Mars
When DeBeers opened the diamond mine
Now interplanetary truckers
Have their depot in a canyon
The bio-dome’s graffiti’d
And the guy from Speedy’s Pizza
Brought me stone cold mozzarella
And the fella at the door is RLDS
I moved here for seclusion
And my own private delusion
Now there’s crowded bars and police cars on Mars

Home on Mars
by Elaine P
My home was once on Planet Earth
In a city some called great,
Among packed crowds I had no worth;
Death and poverty my fate.
In a city some called great
I vowed to work to change my life,
Death and poverty my fate;
T'was time to say farewell to strife.
I vowed to work to change my life,
Could I travel to the stars?
T'was time to say farewell to strife;
Now I live on Planet Mars.
Could I travel to the stars?
Among the crowds I had no worth;
Now I live on Planet Mars,
My home was once on Planet Earth.
