Famous People No. 1
by Ben Gieske
Enrico Caruso
Carrying a stiletto
Wearing a sombrero
Sang “On To Mexico”.
Enrico Caruso
Never played polo.
Often sang solo
With Marco Polo.
John Paul Jones
Moaned and groaned
At home all alone
With his fighting sea bones.
Bob Hope
No dope
Hitched a ride with that crooner
Sailing to Bali on a schooner.
Bing Crosby
Made a fuss
Climbed a tree
And sang White Christmas
Bob Hope from London Townes
Sang all kinds of sounds
The best of all were with Lamour
Going all the way to Singapore.

Famous People No. 2

George Washington had a three-cornered hat.
It was black and on a chair it sat
In which Mrs. George Washington wanted to sit.
There she sat and had quite a fit.
Mark Twain loved playing with his train.
Its whistle had a unique refrain.
That’s why his talk was open and plain.
He was always thinking of his train.
Jonathan Swift took only one trip.
He didn’t like sailing by ship.
With Gulliver he went on foot
All the way to Lulliput.
James Fenimore Cooper
Was no trooper.
He just liked playing Indians and cowboys
With all the other little boys.
William Shakespeare was a famous writer.
He was also a ferocious fighter.
Mightier than the sword was his pen.
His daemon was a fire-eating dragon.
