The Poetry of Don
Dilley Nature's
Child
by Don Dilley
Another day and all is well,
The glowing ball arises.
The grass is as an emerald,
With glistening surprises.
The morning haze a butterfly,
Ascending to the heights.
To leave behind the morning dew,
Like little sparkling lights.
The robin singing on the breeze,
The blue jay's rasping calls.
Like music to my listening ears,
Vibrating off the walls.
The sounds of nature all join in,
A mighty audio wave.
I feel a sense of being small,
A feeling hard to stave.
But through it all I've come to know,
That Nature's child am I.
The adventure never finds an end.
Until I say goodbye.

Dream Girl
by Don Dilley
The girl I've searched for my whole life,
Walked past me here today.
She sat beside me on this bench,
A short time did she stay.
I sat there dumb, I could not speak,
Her beauty struck me mute.
My mind went blank but for one thought,
"My God, this girl is cute!".
Then up she got and srode away,
While I in stuper looked.
Then when my brain began to work,
I thought "My goose is cooked".
She's gone from sight, I know not where,
A land afar, could be.
It might be she's just down the block,
That she'll come back to me.
If never should I see this girl,
And that's a long long time.
Her memory stays in my heart,
That and this little rhyme.
