The Poetry of Elaine
Polin
*****
Untitled I
by Elaine Polin
And the child said,
"I ain't got no new shoes,"
But I was too young to commiserate,
And too academic,
And too smart-alecky,
So I answered,
"I DON'T HAVE ANY new shoes,"
And the child answered,
"I ain't got no new shoes neither,"
And now I cry,
At my youthful stupidity.

Untitled II
by Elaine Polin
Coffee, Giver of life
without you the void looms near
all function ceases
matter and energy dissipate
entropy approaches
my cup is empty
my life without meaning
come to me
give me back the Universe.
